Holidays and school breaks that suit these waters
For the peak June to October dry season, six to nine months’ lead time is strongly recommended, especially for the dwarf minke whale season (June to July) and Australian school holidays. The Ribbon Reefs and Lizard Island attract the highest demand. Shoulder months in May and November, the latter coinciding with the spectacular annual coral spawning, can often be arranged four to five months ahead.
All vessels entering the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park must carry a valid permit and pay the Environmental Management Charge (EMC) per passenger per day. The base rate covers the yacht, professional crew, insurance, and dive equipment on most vessels. Australian GST at 10% applies to the base rate, and any unspent APA is refunded at the end of the voyage.
